Charity and sponsorship is an integral part of the socially oriented business of LUKOIL’s Upstream segment entities in the Middle East. The Group’s entities render support to healthcare institutions, science, culture, sports societies on a regular basis and actively participate in the development of social infrastructure in the countries of their operations.

Social and charity programs prioritized by the Company include the following: 

  • Support to medical institutions;

  • Support to educational institutions;

  • Culture and arts development and preservation programs;

  • Promotion of small and family business in the regions of operations;

  • Sponsorship support to sports clubs and organizations;

  • Support to low-income citizens and people with disabilities;

  • Support to schools and residential institutions;

  • Support of young talents.

The Company’s staff actively participates in volunteer projects as well.

In 2015, the Company supported the Centre for Egyptological Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS). Thanks to its sponsorship, underwater archaeological investigations were carried out by the archaeologists in Alexandria.

During the expedition, underwater exploration was carried out in the location of Le Patriote's wreck (1798), a French ship transporting equipment for the scientific team of Napoleon Bonaparte's army, as well as the mapping of the ancient breakwater of Evnosta port, the Egypt's main commercial port in the Greco-Roman period.

Archeological data obtained as a result of the research will throw light on many aspects of ancient navigation. 

LUKOIL Mid-East Ltd. (100% subsidiary of PJSC LUKOIL, the operator of the West Qurna-2 project) created thousands of jobs in Iraq. Hundreds of specialists have been trained in the training centre for the Iraqi personnel working in the West Qurna-2 field south of the country.

In recent years, the Company actively supported local communities through equipping local schools, purchasing computer equipment, organizing regular supply of drinking water, building sports facilities, and delivering modern medical equipment.

In 2015, LUKOIL Mid-East Ltd. realized a number of social and charitable projects in various spheres.

For several years, LUKOIL has been supporting the initiative "Educate a Child, Build the Nation" under the auspices of Sheikh Mohammed Bin Maktoum Bin Juma Al Maktoum. This initiative is aimed at expanding computer literacy among children of 8—13 years age group, who are UAE nationals. The project initiator is Information City Company. Every year Information City conducts computer trainings for children and teenagers, in the end of which participants receive certificates and laptops from the organizers.
